Transit information, please

I have used the metro in Athens before so I have an idea of the basics. Two things however. Has anyone information about bus#040 which apparently runs every 20 minutes from Syntagma Square to Piraeus stopping between cruise terminals 11 and 12. Also can the transit day passes be purchased at tobacco/newstands or only at Metro stations. Thanks.

I was wondering about a bus, too, so we might be able to get on at the port and then use the Hop on Hop off bus that has a stop at the square.
