chuang Posted October 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2010 I have been in contact with Major Tom in Belize City, and that they are now in the middle of Hurricane Richard, with sustained winds of up to 90 miles an hour. They are all "hunkered down" and waiting for what will be tomorrow morning, when the hurricane will have gone inland. The authorities here are expecting storm surge of 2-5 feet of water. They do not know what itinerary changes will occur for the cruise ships due to visit Belize on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but they expect those visits to be cancelled, of course. Belize City gusted to 55 mph in the last observation at 8 pm. The eye has gone in just to their south. Belize City appears to have been in the eyewall.
