Pocket knife

It used to be quite common for men to carry pocket knives- often the Swiss Army knife with everything from knives to plumbing tools on them. You could always count on someone to have the tool you needed in an emergency- from cutting limes to fixing eyeglasses to whatever. I guess in today's hypersecurity this is a habit which has been lost. Now you are stuck. Ever tried to cut a lime with a teaspoon? Not easy.

DH is one of those guys that carries a Swiss Army knife everywhere. We plan to check it in the luggage, but is it possible to re-board the ship with it if he were to carry it in port? Is it even acceptable to carry a small personal knife in Grand Cayman and Jamaica?

o.k., why do you need a pocket knife?

Until recently almost all men carried a pocket knife- usually a swiss army multitool thing. There was always something that they got used for- from gum in children's hair to trimming a branch- men were men and were expected to take care of whatever came up. Skinning bears and cleaning fish. Fixing the taxi and changing the carborator. Whatever life through at them, or at us women who needed to be taken care of.
