Hurricane

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about if the hurricane that just hit Belize will effect the cruise ships stopping there?

Wadethe Gringo lives on Ambergris Caye and has pics. The eyewall of Richard appears to have been around Belize City with the eye a bit further south. Weaker structures got hit by winds and there was lots of rain. Tides or waves may have washed out some of the smaller beaches on th ecayes. But the TV where the tenders dock doesn't appear to have been hit hard. Cleanup should be quick. If you're there in the next couple of weeks, independently booking an excursion, you may wish to check with the vendor to see if your tour is still on (cave tubing could have high water and roads may be washed out for tours to the ruins). Otherwise, there should be any difficulty in Belize City handling cruise ships.

I just received a text message from my son who is on the Carnival Valor. Their stop in Belize for tomorrow has been canceled. They will be stopping in Costa Maya instead.

This last one, Tomas, seems to turn away from Belize...see wunderground.com
