Meat Pies?

A Puerto Rican friend of us used to make these fantastic "Meat Pies", they were spiced meat encased in a yellowish pie crust and fried or baked?

Have you had these in San Jaun, what is the local name for them?

Also get a sandwich with pork, salami and onion and pickle called a "Cuban' here.. but hear they have them in PR as well...

They are also called "pastelillos de carne", depending on where you are or who you talk to. They also make them with all kinds of seafood fillings, like fish, shrimp, conch, etc.

The Baked Yellowish patties are called Jamacian Patties in Miami

I hope that helps with your question.

you will not find the baked jamaican patties here in Puerto Rico.

the empanadillas can look light yellowish also and it is correct that in some areas it is called pastelillo instead of empanadilla and if the cut is squared is called taco

I have had Jamaican meat pies, and they are good, but different then what I got from my friend. These were about the same size, much more of a 1/2 circle, and almost a pie crust.

So anyways.. are these offered as street food, or something I could find in a restaurant? Any suggestions in OSJ to get a few?
