Carnival Ecstasy- Fun for Kids & Adults?

Ya know, I really hate it when I ask someone IRL their opinion of their trip and I get a negative report :{ Makes me sad :(

My co worker just went on her first cruise on the Ecstasy. She said she was bored (she's in her 40's and her kids are teens and they didn't go with her). My girls are 8 and 4, and my DH and I are 35/36.

Would there be plenty to do onboard even if we have a windy day at sea and couldn't sun? I'm planning for Jan or Feb.

Can anyone give me an example of what activities could keep us entertained at sea?

Thanks for any help and insight!

Go to the Carnival boards and see if someone can post a copy of the daily activites ....I know someone has some! It won't be exactly like your cruise, but it will be representative enough that it'll give you an idea of the offerings on a sea day!

Folks who say they were "bored" usually don't like to relax, and/or don't enjoy group activities. Take other folk's "reviews" with a grain of salt!

We have had totally rainy days and never been bored a minute. First, the kids love camp, so there is plenty for them to do there. The back pool can be covered (and I think heated) so swimming is an option. You can go to the library and play a game. Have tea @ 3 in the dining room. There are various group games and things throughout the day - everything from the newlywed game to hairy chest contest.

My kids really enjoy camp so will spend a few hours at a time there. It gives us time to relax, read or go to the gym.

I love cruising because there is a much or as little as you want to do.

My co worker just brought me her Carnival Fun Times :) It looks like a big bunch of fun to me!

I must find out about WiFi. Computer time is one of my favorite relaxing treats!

It IS a lot of fun. We will be going on the Jan 8 Ecstasy cruise...have been on Carnival Ecstasy several times in the last few years. It is a great ship with a wonderful crew and staff. The food and service is excellent. The entertainment is outstanding. You will only be as bored as you want to be.

Wifi is available all over the ship. We take our notebook computer and use it in the cabin. There is also an Internet cafe on Empress Deck near the Guest Services desk. Internet usage on a ship is via satellilte and is slow and expensive. We usually buy a 60-minute package the first night (you get an extra 10 minutes for signing up early) and it was $27.95 on our last cruise. We only use it to check email each evening, respond, and log off. If you want to play video games, surf the Web, or hang out on Facebook for a long time, then plan on spending about 75 cents per minute on average. We only use it to email a family member back home who is deaf and uses it primarily as a way to communicate with us. Other than the ship you can take your laptop or notebook with you into the ports of call. Sometimes you can find free or cheap wifi or an Internet Cafe on shore. We went to Paradise Beach in Coz one time and they had free wifi for laptops and also had computers at the bar to use free as well.

Here's hoping you have a great cruise. Bon Voyage!

We usually send our son to camp which he loves and I go to the spa while DH hits the casino. DH and I also like having an adult lunch and just walking around the ship. We don't care much for the group activities, but they're fun to try once.
