Are cabin doors metal?

We are going on the Spirit in 9 days (hooray!) My DH wants to decorate our door with magnets. Is the cabin door metal?

Yes. :) I would not put anything of much value or something that can’t be replaced on your cabin door. ;) Have fun. :cool:

Sorry, I have to disagree. I've been on the Spirit several times and my magnets didn't work. I've always brought a roll of tape. I've never had any problems with anyone trying to take anything off the door.

Putting magnets on your door can "potentially" make your door key/locking mechanism not work right. So I've heard :rolleyes:

 

I still decorate my door, but I use double sided tape or something. However, things will get stolen if they are awesome, cute, one of a kind things. I use stuff I've printed off my computer and then take extras. If anything gets stolen then later on I replace it, without much worry. But most people won't bother with stealing computer paper decorations, especially the ones with our names on them.

The doors have a steel core but the outer skin is aluminum with a plastic coating so magnets aren't the best way to attach anything with any weight at all.

 

Like others have said, double side tape works well. I like the foam kind personally.

The doors on the Miracle are metal and magnets work. The Miracle is a spirit class ship just like the Spirit the first ship of this type.

All the cabins doors are B-15 doors with a metal core.....magnet should work perfecty

I have tried magnets and even the car door magnet signs on my cabin door on several ships and they don't work. I can't recall the name of the product right now, but I used a product that is like a little putty that is made to use to hang things up on walls etc., then remove without damage tot he walls. Walmart has a package of yellow sticky squares also that work well without damage to the item or doors. I have used those and they work well.

By the way I when I ordered my personal cards on line the company had the magnetic door signs that matched my cards. I ordered one with a cruise ship and our just put our last names, i.e., The Smith's and used those little squares to hold it in place. Cost about $5.00.

We are cruising on carnival pride November 12, 2017. We are on the 8th deck and I bought 9 x12 magnets to put on the doors. Will they work?

Yes they are but you will be short at the end of the cruise.

I’m confused. I have seen several different posts on this subject. They seem to contradict each other. I will be on deck 8 in an aft facing balcony stateroom. Will magnetic door decorations stay on the doors. I have a friend that does graphic design and he is making a door sign with a notebook of some sort so people can sign as they pass with their name and home state. The sign will have a magnetic backer that will cover the whole sign. I would like to know if it will work or not.

"Decorating Your Stateroom Door and Stateroom

 

We recognize some of our guests like to decorate their staterooms and we, too, love seeing your creative decorations. However, for safety reasons, we must ask that you abide by the following guidelines for decorating your stateroom door as well as the interior of your stateroom.

In the interest of guest and crew safety, the following stateroom decoration policies will be instituted and strictly enforced:

• Decorations may consist only of fire retardant materials. Please note that items sprayed with fire retardant spray are not acceptable
  
• Decorations may only be placed on the stateroom door and not the surrounding frame, walls or railings
  
• You may use magnets or Command Strips but no adhesives such as tape or glue.
  
• Over-the-door hanging organizers must hang inside the stateroom, must also be of fire retardant material and cannot damage the door
  
• No decorations of any kind are allowed on balconies
  
• No decorations or items may be placed over light fittings or fixtures. This may restrict the airflow and cause the item to ignite
  
• No string lights of any kind are allowed
  

For the safety of all guests and crew, any decorations not made of fire retardant material or deemed flammable, will be removed and no compensation will be provided.

We want all of our guests who enjoy decorating their doors and staterooms to be able to continue to do so but it is imperative that guest and crew safety be given top priority. Please do not use tape (as specified). If you cannot get a magnetic sign to stick to your door, use Command strips.
