jimpod Posted November 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2010 Anyone else having problems with this site? I have it saved in my favourites but each time I try to get in it reverts to the UK site. It also goes to http://www.cruisecritic.co.uk even when I type http://www.cruisecritic.com in the browser.
Rare John Bull Posted November 5, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2010 Anyone else having problems with this site? I have it saved in my favourites but each time I try to get in it reverts to the UK site. It also goes to www.cruisecritic.co.uk even when I type www.cruisecritic.com in the browser. I used to dive in & hit the screen where it said "you'll be re-directed to the UK site in 10 secs unless you click here" or somesuch. Just tried cruisecritic.com two mins ago, & as you say, it leads direct to cruisecritic.co.uk. All of which is pretty irrelevant - its the same site, the same dingbat questions, etc. :) Mebbe little differences such as the clock in UK time. And mebbe higher cruise prices ;) Or that might just be cynical me again ;) I don't see it as a problem. Regards, John Bull
Single Cruiser Posted November 5, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 5, 2010 It's not a problem with the site. It just looks at your IP address and if you are UK resident redirects you to the uk servers and website with UK content!
jimpod Posted November 7, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted November 7, 2010 This has only happened recently. Used to get a message saying it was redirecting to UK site and had the option to say no.
Elizanessie Posted November 8, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2010 This has only happened recently. Used to get a message saying it was redirecting to UK site and had the option to say no. There has been some changes going on in the background with regards to redirections etc on this site. The best way to bookmark your favourite cruisecritic.com content pages is to do it separately. Old links to favourites will take you to the UK version of the site. I hope this helps you :D
Rare insidecabin Posted November 12, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2010 On the UK site there is a button on the top that will take you back to the US version and it looks like it remembers. I never normaly bother with the main site, just the boards which are still the same place UK or US. Don't forget that CC along with many places is now all part of expedia and are not independant. http://www.expediainc.com/business-Media.cfm in the UK Holidaywatchdog is also part of expedia.
