Kimpamo Posted November 6, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2010 Staying 2 nights post cruise - travelling with two smokers- therefore limited to which hotels we can choose. Looking at SLEEP INN and Extended Stay America Hotel Marina. Would like to know which would be the better. Interested in seeing Las Olas area, Galleria Mall and ride the water taxi. Sleep Inn is further away from everything but offers shuttle and free breakfast. Would it be easy enough and reasonable in cost to travel by taxi or bus to these attractions from this hotel? Or would it be better to stay at Extended Stay America Hotel which is closer to the attractions but does not offer shuttle or free breakfast? Any help is appreciated - I am going stir crazy trying to decide which motel to book that would please everyone!! Thanks in advance for your help!! KreinKrunker Posted November 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2010 If you are referring to the Extended Stay on 17th, that would be your best choice. You could walk the couple of blocks to the water taxi. The taxi will take you to Los Olas, and the Galleria. You could also take the #40 bus to the mall, and the water taxi back. What you save on getting from Sleep Inn to the water taxi, will take care of the transportation to the ship and breakfast. Shuttles are nice, but we usually take a taxi anyway. We are on our schedule that way.

Honeybea Posted November 7, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 7, 2010 Hi, Have stayed pre-cruise at the Extended Stay America several times and will be staying there prior to the next cruise. Very convenient to stores, Starbucks, Einstein Bagels and Cold Stone Creamery are across the street. Walgreens and supermarket are all within walking distance. Cruise port is a ten minute drive and there are restuarants near the hotel. Honeybea
Johanna7 Posted November 7, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2010 We have stayed there a number of times and love it. Yes, they have a shuttle to the port and their charge is about $6 each or what you want to pay. As for meals, they have a full kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, etc. There is a Publix very close and also a nice Winn Dixie. Easy to make a few meals yourself if you wish. If not, there are many restaurants in the area. We are staying there again Nov. 17 to 22 when we board the Princess Grand. Intend to use the water taxi a couple of times and eat lunch at various places including the 17th St. Fisheries restaurant. The Outback is also within easy walking distance and they have great lunch specials.
