Knightcruiser Posted February 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2005 We are cruising on the Dawn this Sunday. My brother, who was the third pax in our cabin, had to cancel today due to his wife's illness. I will be calling my TA tomorrow morning to let him know. (He did not have cruise insurance.) I know there is no way for a refund, but is there any chance NCL might be willing to give us some cabin credit? Anyone had experience with this kind of situation? Many thanks! peanutJMV Posted February 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2005 Thats a shame. Dont count on cruise credit but doesnt hurt to ask. I would call NCl directly. Is there anyone that could take the place of the 3rd person? May have a better shot. Last year I was on the dawn, tried to cahnge the date last minute and they woulndt approve it. Have a great time the Dawn is well worth it....

zimmerjulie Posted February 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2005 I haven't heard of anyone getting a credit in a situation like this. They have the scale in place that if you cancel within 7 days, you lose 100% (unless insured, of course). I don't think exceptions would be viewed as a good thing to do..if you do it for some, the others get angry. If you do it for all, you go broke:p. One thing I wonder is if port charges for the cancelled person could be negotiable in any way. I don't think so, but it might be worth a question to the TA. I think the suggestion of a replacement 3rd person is a good idea, if there is anyone that fits the bill for you. I think the name change fee is $50 and must be done/registered before 72 hours prior to sail. Good luck and have fun on your cruise!

angeldust4300 Posted February 28, 2005 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2005 This happened on our last cruise and we didn't want it wasted, so we took another person and they charged $100.00 for the name change on the ticket, this was done the week of the cruise.:)
Galley Girl Posted March 1, 2005 #9 Share Posted March 1, 2005 If you used a credit card and carry insurance on it you might be able to get the money back for the cruise. Its worth a try. Joanne
