Radiance revamped for Australia

Recommended Posts

Radiance of the Seas is set to

undergo major improvements

before its first season here

next year.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN IS INVESTING MILLIONS OF

dollars to fit out Radiance of the Seas with

five new restaurants, a new lounge, wi-fi

internet, and better kids facilities.

The scheduled enhancements will

commence in May 2011 with the creation of

the Samba Grill Brazilian steakhouse, the

Italian eatery Giovanni’s Table, the Mexicanthemed

Rita’s Cantina, and the Park Café.

Passengers will also be able to experience

dining at Chef’s Table, an exclusive new

space for 14 people to enjoy a gourmet

menu chosen by the evening’s featured

chef, who will personally present each course.

Before the wine-paired meal, guests have

the opportunity to meet and mingle at a

private cocktail party.

Other additions will include a Diamond

Lounge for Crown & Anchor Society loyalty

program members, enhanced kids club

facilities, wi-fi throughout the ship, and

interactive flat-screen televisions in all cabins

which allow passengers to reserve shore

excursions, order room service and check

their account balances.

The multimillion-dollar revitalisation of

Australia’s newest superliner is part of the

company’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

According to Gavin Smith, managing

director, Royal Caribbean Cruises Australia,

the move demonstrates its commitment to

the Australasian market.

Radiance of the Seas is already a

fantastic superliner, the biggest and most

innovative to be based in our region, and

with these enhancements we’re making her

even better,” Smith said.

“Dining is a vital part of any cruise and

we’ll be giving our guests a significantly

greater choice with five new specialty

restaurants on board; in fact more choice

than any other ship based in the region.”

Big sister to Rhapsody of the Seas, which

has been based in Sydney for the past few

summers, Radiance will kick off her

Australasian season in October 2011 with a

series of short (two-day) and long (up to 18-

day) cruises around Australia, New Zealand

and the South Pacific.

Enhancements are also planned next year

for four other Royal Caribbean ships:

Splendour of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas,

Freedom of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas.
