Slot tournaments and other casino questions

I just heard they have slot tournaments on many ships and charge a fee. My questions are:

Say the fee is $20 does that mean I pay $20 to enter the tournament then shell out more $$ to actually play in it or just play off the $20 for the duration of the tournament assuming it only lasts 5-10 minutes.

If you win a jackpot or Bingo with a prize of over $1000 would they pay in cash? just can't see someone walkin around a ship with 2-3grand in their pocket until they get to their cabin to put it in the safe. I've seen winners at casinos get armed/large escorts to their cars but on a ship how would this work?

I ask just to know as I don't really plan on gambling all that much if I win $50 I leave or just watch others play 99% of the time.

No, you pay $20 and the machines are open(FREE) for those that paid for the tournament . As for the winnings of games (SLOTS), I can only reply to what the Carnival Dream did...when you win. For slots, you place your S&S card in a slot on the machine and the winnings are posted on your card to that account. You can cash in what is left on the card at anytime but must cash it in before the end of the cruise to get your winnings. Sorry, I am a slots fanatic so can't comment on the other games!!

I can't remember about the slot winnings on our last RCI cruise, but on =X=, there is no coin payout and the machine prints out a slip which you take to the cashiers desk and cash in. You get paid in cash. I've never had a problem walking from the casino to my cabin in a few thousand in winnings in my pocket :D

On Princess (and as far as I know, all the other Carnival brands) there is no coin payout, and no paper tickets on the slots. All is done with your cruise card, as noted above. Remember you MUST cash out before the casino closes on the last night or your balance is GONE!

Table games are strictly on a cash (chips) basis. Cash your chips before the end of the last night - although if you plan another cruise soon on the same line, you could just keep the chips instead of cashing them.

I wouldn't worry about being accosted for your money aboard the ship. Security is good - after all, where could a mugger hide? The only crime I have heard about on cruise ships were in the line of sexual assault.

Shalom, Andy.
