Update on New DOT Regulations (Not So Good)

I just found out that on November 8th (several days AFTER the new regulations went into place), the DOT changed the effective date of the new regulations that applies to cruise ships. The good news is that the regulations have not been changed. The bad news is, the regulations regarding booking accessible cabins will not go into effect until January 3, 2012 - more than a year away! The rest of the regulations go into effect this coming January 3 (2011).

I would suggest that if this issue matters to you, write to your favorite cruiseline(s) to recommend that they transition to these new accessible cabin-booking regulations as soon as possible instead of putting it off until 2012.
