TexasDeere Posted November 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2010 We would like to get a private guide to show us the city or at least what might have some historial interest, show us the beautiful hill sides, and lush vegetations along with the iguanas and monkeys. Then take us to the best beach and who can also take us to a great sea food restaurant. Is this something I need to reserve in advance or will there be ones available after getting off the boat. Advice??
mamajules Posted November 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2010 Go ahead and book a private tour ahead of time. A couple to consider are either Victor Bodden or Rony. There have been many reviews of both on these boards. You can google them and find their websites. Both offer a kind of name your own island tour where you can tell them what you would like to do (monkeys and birds, iguana farm, beach time, ziplines, snorkel, restaurant, etc). We did Victor Bodden our first time on Roatan and Rony our second. Both were great. This past time, Rony took us around the island, we shopped in the city, he showed us around parts of the island, explained about the island to us, we saw the monkeys and birds at Victor Bodden's house, my son ziplined at South Shore Canopy and then we spent time on the beach at Bananarama. What ship are you on? If you are on Carnival, be aware they do not let any independent operators into their port area. However, it is simple enough to walk up the hill out of the port area and meet your guide. Have fun!
