First day on the Jewel, in an A3 (where should we have lunch?)

Nothing guarantees the suite will be available as soon as you board. While they make every effort to get the A1's cleaned and set to welcome guests at boarding time, if the previous guests were late departing, it may be a little after noon. Gary is right, having lunch there could be a real inconvenience as other suites need getting ready.

Agree.

We are going out for lunch. Since I've kept the A1 a secret from my family they will be so shocked (well maybe not mom, she' know's that I'm always up to something, she may be not so surprised, but this room will probably throw them all for a loop. It will be nice to unload and go downstairs to Cagney's for lunch.

We just finished our last packaing push and everyone has gone to bed. Tomorrow brings the start of a week of fun. Watching 2 1/2 men doing their changing room montage. That was me and my 12YO today.

Sponge bob and all!

I know Adrian Bica is back as concierge, new hotel director, and I think the F&B Director is the same.. Areyou on the Dec 5 sailing? Come join our Roll Call!

Thanks Robin! Was just curious who the concierge was. Haven't heard too much about Adrian but I am sure he will be outstanding like the others we have had (Virginia, Anshuman, Amita, Ruth). Have you met him before? Any opinions?

We will be getting on the Jewel the day that you get off! Would be nice to have the GV (someday) like Roveer but we will have to suffer in a CYV:). Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks again,

Adrian is awesome! I sailed with him over the summer and literally booked our upcoming sailing according to his vacation schedule just so we can visit with him again - that's how great I think he is hehehe.. Can't remember offhand the name of the F&B director (I have it on my contacts page, but posting from an iPad which would erase everything I am writing if I try to find it) - but he is absolutely amazing as well. In July, he stopped by our table at Le Bistro to see how everything was, I told him that I missed the Foie Gras Stuffed Chicken that used to be on the menu.. He arranged another dinner later in the week where the chef made the dish just for us, and they presented us with the recipe as well! The entire staff of the Jewel was magnificent, every officer greeted us by name whenever we saw them, there are some spectacular bartenders, the entertainment staff was always out socializing with passengers, it was just wonderful... It's a rare thing!

Great! Have overall been so very happy with NCL and was just curious about the concierge (but not worried as they have always been awesome!). So this is good to know. Have been on Pearl, Gem, Dawn and Sky and have always had a great time so I am sure the Jewel will be no different in terms of crew, food etc. That is so cool that they gave you the recipe. On one of my previous trips a child at the meet and greet asked about one of the fruit soups and the chef took down his number and was going to get the recipe to the family. Lots of the reviews lately from the Jewel have been very good...although I will have to read yours if you post one when I get back from mine.

Like Al, am still waiting for Roveer to check back in to this thread to tell us all about the GV!

Thanks again for your information,

I too am waiting to hear from Roveer, want to know how the surprise went! We surprised our daughters with the GV last Christmas, and it was soooo much fun! Maybe someday we will do it again, but in the meantime, I love to live vicariously through others! BTW, I did a review of my Jewel sailing in July. It's under member reviews in 7/10 titled "Brilliant Jewel Outshines Expectations". What CYV are you in? We will be in 14006 and I cannot wait!

Hi Robin,

Just read your review-it sounds like you guys had a great cruise! I also like to live vicariously through other people's cruises-hahaha. Especially those that are high rollers in the casino-so cool.

I am going on the Jewel with one of my best friends (leaving husbands at home) and I am sure we will have an awesome time-no matter how high the expectations, NCL has always surpassed them. I love it that you surprised your daughters with the GV. Wow-I am sure that was one for the record books. We have traveled with my dad/brother and other family on previous trips and in Feb we are going on the Pearl with my husband's mom and aunt (unfortunately could only swing an AE for them though). We will survive though!

On the Jewel we will be in 14508 so will be on the other side correct? When we booked all but one were available and that was what our agent put us in. We will probably have different butlers then so we can compare notes when we both get back :) (I have no doubt they will be awesome).

So as to not completely hijack this thread...where is Roveer?!?!! I can't wait to hear about his cruise and how the surprise went over!
