We are off on the IOTS in January and wondering if it is possible to walk into town from the ship in Lisbon or is it better to book a tour.

IMO, book a tour. If you want to see the Belem Tower, Monument to the Discoverers,Geronimo Monastery, and the Alfama. I would be happy to e-mail you some trip stories I have written. My e-mail is highlandpark@mindspring.com

Lisbon is a beautiful city and you should try to see as much as you can. Take a tour...the city is also very hilly. I wouldn't want to walk from the pier.

We cruised into Lisbon and docked just about in center of downtown. It was great. That was our third time visiting that interesting city so that was perfect.
