San Diego on Christmas Eve?

Any ideas for something special to do on Christmas Eve? That is our turn-around day on the Statendam for B2B Panama Canal.

Sorry, not sure I completely understand your timing?

Do you need a daytime activity? Are you staying in a hotel or on the ship that night? Do you need a restaurant rec for dinner or will you eat on the ship?

Do you want a religious service?

We dock in San Diego on the morning of Dec 24. The ship will be disembarking and embarking passengers but we are staying on board for the second half of our cruise heading back to Fort Lauderdale. Whatever we do that day we have to be back on board before 5pm.

I understand now. Normal daytime tourist activities will be available to you. San Diego has a lot to see and so. The cruise port is right downtown so it will be easy for you to get around.

IF you want something "Christmassy then perhaps you could visit the Hotel Del Coronado across the bay . You could use the hop on hop off bus to get there or you could take a passenger ferry then bus to get there.

Both options leave from right next to the cruise port.

The Hotel is one from the Victorian era and they have great decorations and a really nice atmosphere. Sometimes they have entertainment for the season as well.

Thank you for the suggestions! Now I wish we had more time in San Diego. I wasn't planning to get off the ship too early but that may change so we can see more. The Hotel looks lovely and I get a big kick out of the skating rink on the beach! If nothing else I want pictures of that. Afternoon tea there would be nice but that may cut close to when we have to be back aboard. We will almost definitely be on the Trolley tour.

You could tour the aircraft carrier/museum Midway. A five minute walk from your ship.
