We were in Tampa in Feb., 2010. In order to escape the massive snow storm in the DC,DE,MD area that was approaching, we left two days early for Tampa for our Legend cruise. If we had not gotten out when we did, we would have been in the Baltimore Washington Airport sleeping in the chairs instead of in deck chairs !

The group we were traveling with had a group rate at the Hampton Inn at Rocky Pointe. There is a second hotel on the same property where we stayed our first night, and there is a Bahama Breeze restaurant on the same property so you can just walk across the parking lot to it. That really gets you in the mood for your cruise. The Hampton Inn has a complimentary breakfast, and warm cookies in the lobby during the afternoon.

Both hotels were very nice. They share the van that picks you up at the airport quickly when you call. They take you to the port the day of your cruise, and they will take you anywhere within a 4 mile radius of the hotel for free.

We enjoyed that free shuttle service to several places. One day we went to a BBQ restaurant we'd seen on Food Network that is owned by Leroy Selmon, a Football Hall of Fame member. I don't remember who he played for but if you are a football fan, there's lots of memorabilia on display. One evening we went to a large mall that had a PF Chang's and a Cheesecake Factory attached. There was a Walgreen's drug store which came in very handy for those last minute items like water, soda, in my case , a forgotten tooth brush.

The price was reasonable, the service was excellent. They responded fairly quickly when we returned to port and took us directly to the airport.

More about the cruise is in the report in my signature. Have a wonderful time. We loved the Legend.

We stayed at Mainsail Suites...very nice, clean and reasonable (we had a 2 bedroom with 2 couples for $65 per couple...they also have one-bedrooms). They also provide the shuttle from the airport, to the port, and local. Restaurant with good food on site and free hot breakfast in the morning.

Chase Suites was also fine...same type of deal. No restaurant on site, but Bahama Breeze across the parking lot. More of a continental type breakfast in the morning (included).

We just got off the Legend...love her! Have a great time!:)
