Any beach options with kids?

We are travelling with my 16 month old granddaughter and looking for ideas for the day. She would be totally boarded on a tour bus, and not up to walkin gthrough the rainforest. Without spending a minor fortune ( there are 5 adults in our group), we were looking for a fun 1/2 day idea if there is a decent beach, or go to the botanic gardens for a walk.

All ideas welcome
