Adventure Ocean contacting parents?

Recommended Posts

Another question! Thanks for your patience folks!

When parents drop their kids off at AO, how does all that work? What if something happens to the kids there, or the kids want their parents....how do they find us on the ship? Do they give us a pager or something? While I'm not new to cruising, I'm very new to this whole AO thing. Thanks for any tips!

yes you are given a pager and they will use it if your child is crying and missing you or if there is any other problem. They are very good about it so go ahead to the casino or night club (if you are so inclined) and play and just glance at the beeper occasionally.

My 3 year old grandson loves to play in Adventure Ocean and the staff are fabulous and keep them very busy with arts and crafts, games, pirate adventures, etc. He has been on 2 cruises and always wants to go to the "play area"!

Since you have a 3 year old, they will give you a pager or onboard phone to use if they need to contact you. For 6 and up, unless the child has special needs, they usually just page in the public address in event of emergency ... but they can use the phone assigned for a younger sibling to page parents for an older child if needed.

Do you get pagers for all ages? My sister will have her 9yr old daughter with us on the Allure next September and we definitely do not want her navigating hallways and elevators by herself.

Pagers are for 6 years and under, from memory, but unless you give the 9 year old permission to sign herself out, she will not be allowed to leave the AO area and wander the ship

Unless she gives her 9 year old permission to sign herself out, they won't let her leave the children's area without a parent picking her up.

When DD was 4 she we got a pager. On our recent cruise (same ship) when she was 5 we didn't. And they hadn't run out b/c there were only 26 kids on the ship. One morning she didn't get to the potty fast enough (since there we so few kids they were hanging all together in the big kid room and that's a long way from the potty), so they cleaned her up, gave her a pair of AO shorts (she got to keep) and left a message on our room phone. As soon as we got the message (over an hour later) we went and got her. They were fine with that. Had there been an emergency they would have paged us.
