Mt Gay and Harrison's Cave on Own?

We will be in Barbados in Feburary and my husband wants to go to Mt Gay Rum Factory and I want to go to Harrisons Cave. Does anyone know if both of these can be done in one day (8 am to 6 pm)? And how we would go about doing them on our own? Can you just take a taxi to each place?
