Just off the Conquest 12-5 to 12-12

Just got off the Conquest yesterday morning.

My hubby and I shared an Oceanview 6E with his mom on the sofa bed and my 21 yr old niece in a bunk bed.

There was plenty of room and the staggered wake up times made shower schedule a breeze. My niece lived out of her suitcase but there was storage room available for her. Bring your own hangers.

Sticked to a pretty simple schedule, breakfast, casino, lunch, card games, show, dinner, karaoke, comedy show, casino, bed-

Live Music Was too LOUD and the Karaoke singers could've beat the entertainers in a sing off. The Lounge shows made Vegas shows look like Tony awards.

Ports were nice and weather was cool, which favored me and my DH but others were cold.

Nassau-Planned on Atlantis but it was booked. Glad we did book it as it was a little chilly to be in the water. Heard some snorkeling was cancelled due to swift currents and cool weather. Ended up walking from the pier to the public beach back through the shops and up to the Queens staircase.

Freeport-Took a cab to Port Lucuya, the shops were no bargains, the casino was old and drab. We managed to get a bottom fishing charter for 250.00 which about what we pay for a trip to Texoma but the ship's excuriosn would've ben 70/per person. So for a 100 extra, we had the boat to our selves and the captain to help keep our hooks baited.

The cruise ship excursion were in the same waters, but there was about 30 on the boat and didn't get the one on one attention that we got. Plus we got to do some trolling for Mahi Mahi and Wahoo, ended up boating a Barracuda but still there was plenty of action.

Key West-Just walked around the port area and down to mile 0. Don't but an Iron on T-shirt from any of the stores. It's always done in a hurry and by the time you unpack it, the iron on is peeling or is blurry.

My neice won the free cruise in the raffle, limitations are:

Stateroom 6E or less, 7 days or less, travel must be complete within a year, you pay taxes and port fees, based on availability, you must choose 3 cruises and carnival let's you know which one you can take.

Any questions?

Did you have a good time?

Did you try YTD or assigned dining in the MDR?

What time did you arrive at the pier and when did you finally get on the ship?

Thanks for the info, we sail in a few weeks. Should we pack shorts or long pants?

We had a great time. Our cabin was toward the back and on the 2nd floor so any rocking the boat did, didn't affect us much.

For the first 6 nights we dined in MDR, we were assigned to the Monet.

We were 50/50 on the food and my DH really wanted to try the Steakhouse but the food selection was so good on the middle 3 nights that we couldn't fit it in. The first 2 nights, the meals were the typical bland servings.

Never tried the YTD just ate burgers and room service on the last night; we had a 10pm show that we had to attend as 2 of our members were in the Legends show.

Schedule boarding was 12:30-2:30 and we got there about 1pm. We missed our turn so we took Ave F (Church St) down 19th st and sneaked in the back side, dropped the luggage and then parked. The line to get through security took about 15 to 20 minutes but once you got through it we walked up to the Carnival boarding counter and were on board by 1:45.

I can tell you that getting there earlier than that probably won't help you.

When we debarked back at the pier at 10:30am, people were already lining up and dropping off luggage. Our shuttle driver said that some people get there when it's still dark outside and just hang out in the Wharf area until it's time to board. By about 1pm, the line has worked it way down and you won't have to wait for your cabin to be ready.

Our first cruise, 4 years ago, we got there early and the security line was out the door. It took us an hour to board and our stateroom wasn't ready so we had to wait in the hallway with our luggage =(. So now we porter all our luggage and have no worries.

As for shorts or pants, check the 7 day forecast for the ports. A cold front came down with us and it was chilly most of the time. We had planned to do a swim excursion but backed out when we determined it would be too cold.

The sea water temp is 82, but that doesn't help when your head is in high 60's lower 70's. The pool temp on the ship were consistently 62 degrees.

If your cold in the mid 70's bring pants, me and my DH are hot natured so the cooler weather was great for us, the 20 somethings were so thrilled and wore hoodies and long sleeves for most of the cruise.

FYI, I heard they had Fish N Chips buffet on the 10th floor above the Cezzanne, but to get there, I took the stairs off the Aft elevator. I think the mid ship elevators take you to 10 but you have to head Aft to find an entrance to the buffet. I'm not sure when the serve, I didn't find it until the final day.

The fish & chips were available from 12-2:00 and were pretty good.

My husband was one of the karoke singers, and they weren't bad.

Did you see the Guy dressed in a dress on the last formal night. He was a hoot along with his family. I had a really good time, but it was cold alot and the boat was rocking most of the time at sea.

DW and I were on this cruise also. Our second cruise on Conquest, so I knew to make a beeline for Fish and Chips! I was their first customer. We had a great time on the cruise and kept busy with lots of games and shows, so it didn't really matter that the weather was too cool for lounging around on deck.
