Which Tuxedo?

Recommended Posts

I've narrowed my tuxedo selection to 2.

A Christian Dior Double Breasted with a Peak Lapel

or

An Oscar De La Renta Dimention Double Breasted Shawl

The price difference is only $10, so that isn't an issue. But what I want to know is which would we get the most years out of? (partner and I are getting matching tuxes) The shawl collar is attractive, but it also seems like it would be the easiest "dated" of the 2.

Which of the 2 collar styles do you think would look best with a vest and bowtie?

Any opinions?

Thanx

LES!

Hi,

Go with the double breasted Dior

As someone who used to be in the formalwear business, I can vouch that it has good style. It's really a timeless classic, harkening back to the Roaring 20s.

The de la Renta shawl collar is by far the most trendy. A single breasted shawl collar would be fine, but even those tend to look quite trendy if the lapel/collar is too wide or too narrow.

Traditionally, a double breasted is NOT worn with a vest. However, again, I think the Dior wins hands down. I personally don't like cummerbunds for my own use, and wear tuxedo vests almost exclusively.

Have fun wearing the outfit!
