Belize in January 2011, Cave Tubing or Reef Snorkel

Party of 4 adults on the Carnival Legend visiting Belize 1/20/2011. We want to do cave tubing and snorkel the reef in Belize. We dock at 8:00 AM and leave at 5:00 PM.

Are we trying to do too much? If only able to do one, which excursion should we choose?

Any and all advice welcome!

Thank you!

Probably a bit too much. Your last tender back will leave the tender pier around 4PM ship time/ 3 PM Belize. Cave tubing takes 4-6 hours depending on tour and vendor. You'll most likely leave the tender dock (Tourism Village) around 9 AM Belize time (10 AM ship time). Most boat snorkeling excursions off the ship leave directly from the ship around 9AM ship time and come directly back to the ship in early/mid afternoon.

Cave tubing is only available in Belize. It's unique.

If you're going to Roatan, do your shore snorkeling there via a ship excurison to Tabayana beach or using Upchaya, or heading to the West end/West Bay on your own. Bananrama, Fosters, Half Moon Bay all rent snorkel gear abotu $10 pp a day. reef's about 20 yards out. Do Not waste your time trying to snorkel at Mahogany Bay where the ship docks. But do try the zip line at Zip N Clip just across the road from the pier area. If you're going to Costa Maya, book a boat snorkel off those reefs.
