San Juan Int'l Agricultural Inspection

Have read thru posts and didn't seem to find a definitive answer.

 

Do carry-ons have to go thru the agricultural inspection or if we only have carry-on, can we skip and go right to security?

I have seen post from some who say no, but ours did this past Feb.

It only takes 2 seconds to get the sticker for carryon so just do it. They've always told me I have to get one.

We just went though on Wednesday and all were told that all closed luggage had to go through - didn't matter if it was carry on or not. I was holding an open bag (like a beach bag) and they said it didn't not need to go in the x-ray. It did just take a few minutes even though we didn't know about it and had to back track after arriving at the Delta counter.

We went recently three times in 2010 and every time both carry-ons and checked had to get checked and stickered. (even through those stickers barely stick on your luggage!)

Thanks all! Hoping to do only carry-on so just wanted to know in advance. Hawaii has this type of inspection too but no need to put carry on thru.

 

Will plan on it.

Our experience is the same..... we have always had to send carryons through Agriculture Inspection in San Juan.
