Ideas on hotels around Amtrak Seattle but centrally located to downtown?

Recommended Posts

We will be coming from Vancouver on a train later in the night and then don't leave until the next night. Have been in Seattle before and would like to go down to the downtown area. Any ideas on where to stay? It is been five years since we were there.

The train station is not in the best section of town, although it is near the stadium. What we usually do is take a city bus downtown (you can also take a cab, there are plenty)

Depending on your budget, there are some great hotels. If you have the $$$ Inn at the Market is lovely, and veyr close to Pike Place Market. Nothing is 'budget' down there. If you like boutique hotels there are two branches of my favorite in Seattle. The Alexis and the Hotel Monaco. Both are Kimpton hotels and they are very small and high on service, with wine receptions late in the day, and lots of nice custom touches.

It is worth taking in some Seattle sights if possible. The Seattle Duck tours are funny and fun, and taking the Ferry across the sound is an inexpensive way to see the water. There are Argosy cruises on the bay as well that take about an hour, show you the locks and get you out on the water.

Have fun!

The only hotel I know of near the station is the Silver Cloud Stadium. Not close enough to walk to, especially at night. They have a free shuttle service for guests to the Space Needle and the Market so perhaps they would pick you up at the Station ????

If you want to stay downtown I would take a taxi from the station. Maybe $20. There's a Best Western near the Space Needle. If you go to www.tripadvisor, there is hotel info listed on the front page of the Seattle forum. Plus that site has a map feature to drill down on specific areas.
