Our booking for this cruise included tranfers for $289:mad:

One would think that a cab ride from the airport to the ship in Hong Kong and from the ship to the airport in Singapore can be arranged for much less.

 

Will we be expected to pay for the cabs in local currency?

OR can we pay in US dollars?

 

Are there places to exchange currency at the airports?

OR should we bring local currency with us from home?

We took a mercedes limo, private, to and from the airport- it was $60usd each way. Far better than a minivan!

How does one find a private car company for Hong Kong.

Did you make the reservations in advance or arrange something on arrival at the airport.

We went to (then British) Hong Kong a decade ago, before the airport moved to its present location. Back in those days, you got passengers and taxis both queueing up in good order right outside the airport. All Hong Kong taxis were neat and air conditioned, and there was no need for pre-booking limousines. Some luxury hotels would provide you a Mercedes-Benz or even Rolls Royce (in the case of the Peninsula Hotel) if you bought their special package.

 

I don't know the situation there now. Presumably, taxis still queue up for passengers. Of course, there is the mass transit system, but with luggage, it will be much more convenient to just get a taxi. Hope this helps.

you can get a car from the hotel that you stay in or you can get a regular cab........probably around $:rolleyes: 45
