journey2002 Posted February 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2005 My husband and I are going on first cruise on the Rhapsody June 12. We booked through RCCL and pre-paid our gratuities. Our understanding of this is that unless we want to do anything above the recommended amounts of tipping, we will not have to tip on the last day because we have already paid for it. Is this correct? Has anyone else ever done this?
TrentS Posted February 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2005 I never noticed the option to pre-pay when booking, but I know you can pre-pay onboard - it's charged to your SeaPass account, and they give you vouchers to give out on the last night that state you've paid. Personally I prefer to do it the old fashioned way.
Sea-shell Posted February 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2005 We have used the vouchers on the last two cruises. Personally, I like that method. We usually add addl cash in the envelopes for those that provided service above and beyond. Lots easier than getting change so we have the appropriate amount for each envelope. journey2002 Posted February 28, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted February 28, 2005 There is an option when you first sign up to pre-pay gratuties (and if/when you make monthly payments). Is that how it works...they give us vouchers to give the individual people?
Sheffie Posted February 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2005 Yes, you will get vouchers and envelopes to give to the individuals. Michelle
Blue Waters Posted February 28, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2005 Does anyone know if it makes a difference to those recieving the tips which way they receive them? I know that in restaurants, waiters don't always receive the entire amount tipped, the restuarant takes a cut.
