DOing Sheraton Day Pass But Want Local Dining

We have decided on the Sheraton $25 pass, but would like something local for lunch. Seems a shame to go all the way there and eat burgers that you can get on the ship or home...

Where can we get local cheap seafood or Jerk Chicken, etc. Somewhere the locals go would be great!

Is anything in walking distance or accessible without paying too much for a cab?

We are very budget friendly travellers, so that is important.

Nassau is a tourist trap and hard to find cheap seafood. If you are budget friendly I would go back to the ship for lunch.

Not alot in the general area of the hotel, but there are plenty of good seafood and local spots at decent prices at the Fish Fry or a cab to travelers Rest a few miles west of cable beach.

What's your timing? You can even pick up some local food in town before you head out.

You might find Jerk Chicken on the sheraton menu (I think Wyndham has a jerk wrap).. but jerk is jamaican, not bahamian.

You'll pass the Fish fry on your way to the hotel. It's on west bay just outside of downtown. Keep in mind that most bahamian restaurant are VERY slow.. so you could waste along of "sun" time getting lunch elsewhere.

We're not cheap to the point we will deprive ourselves LOL. But the idea of paying $15+ for a burger or hotdog doesnt make sense when you get it on the ship for free.

I was thinking one of those local places like you see on travel channel where they cook by the side of the road on a tin drum. Or somewhere the locals stop to grab a bite on their way home from work.

You know you may need an Immodium in the morning, but what the heck, You only live once...

I would think if they have jerk chicken on the resort menu it's made in some hotel kitchen and is the same as what we get at the local Jamacian spot around the corner.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you want delicious seafood,

and a place where the locals eat.

We had heard about the Fish Frye and tried one of these

amazing places to eat on our last stop in Nassay...

This will now be a required visit from now on.
