Passports on excursions?

The only documents you are required to take with you off the ship are your sign & sail card and a photo ID.

The sign and sail card is the only document the ship needs to allow you to reboard. The photo ID is for port security to allow you to enter the port area but the vast majority of ports in Mexico and the Caribbean never ask for ID.

If for some reason you miss the ship you will need your passport to fly onward to catch the ship or come home.

What do you need to take with you when you port in Progresso and Cozumel? Do you need to take your passports with you or just a copy of your birth certificate?

I just bring sign and sail card and photocopy of my passport. If you don't have a passport, just bring a photocopy (not original) of birth certificate.

Never needed more.
