Need Help - Galveston Boarding Woes

Hoping someone can give me some assistance. We're heading out on the 3/3 Ecstacy - and I screwed up my right knee in a 5K run last week. I'm going this afternoon to get an MRI, but the Doc's thinking some cartilage /meniscus damage. Of course, we didn't get the travel insurance, so I'm wondering how much walking time/distance is involved in the boarding proceedure? I can walk so-so, but standing is really uncomfortable - I'll be all right after I'm on board (i.e Rx planting myself in a chaise lounge w/a Red Stripe) Is there any time when the lines are shortest? I'm using the ezcruise parking thing. Thanks.

Have cruised from Galveston twice now. Have them drop you off at the door and go for it. Just inside is an esculator that takes you up to the checkin - distances are not very great. Standing in line (depending on when you get there) might create a problem for you but you could probably fix that by having your travelling partners wait in line and have you come up when its your turn. Surely not many people would begrudge someone on crutches for that.

Don't cause yourself unnecessary pain standng in a line. Tell your situation to one of the Carnival personnel who are corralling people from one area to another and surely they'll expedite things for you. If it's really bad for you, why not ask for a wheelchair at least through the check-in area?

There's also an elevator if that's easier for you vs. the escalator.

My DW had a neck brace on when we went. She asked at the first place we saw a Carnival rep and they took her past the lines to security. We then got sent to the first table for check in. They are really helpful when you need the help and have a brace or something to indicate you are really hurt. One person traveling with you will be allowed to go through the short lines with you. I suppose if you have children they would be allowed, also.

Hello - thanks to all for the great tips. FYI - I just got back from seeing the orthopedic specialist - he diagnosed it as "Bursitis" - gave me a cortizone shot and feel mucho better. Might bring those crutches though - just in case!!

I have bursitis in my hip as a result from falling off a horse 30 years ago and the shot sometimes will work for up to 6 months or so. I can go a long time with no problems then I will suddenly get a flare-up and have pain for weeks. After trying just about everything including prescription pain pills, I find 4 advil works most of the time. Did your doc prescribe any other meds?
