Dzibilchaltun and cenote swimming

Is this something that we can do on our own, or do we have to be on a tour?

To do this on your own, all you need to do is get there. Dzibilchaltun is open to the public (entrance fees apply) and once you are there, visit the ruins and swim to your hearts content. A taxi driver or other forms of transportation will wait for you and then take you back or even further on into Merida if you wish.
