VNP Best Port?

We have a a stop in Kona and also Hilo and really want to do a tour of VNP.

Not interested in driving ourselves, we will do a tour, but don't know which port has the better option for doing the park. Any suggestions please?:confused:

Hilo is the easiest/fastest access.

Hilo without a doubt. It is about a 45 minute drive from Hilo. It is at least a 2 hours drive from Kona.

 

When I did Hawaii I book a heli tour of the volcano, then grabbed a rental car (both are at the Hilo airport) and headed to the park for lunch at Volcano House. Took a few hikes.

If you are in port long enough go to Akaka Falls State Park.

We have a volcano tour with Ricky's for our cruise in May. He only takes a small group of 10 in his van and the tour is 5 hours. Our van is filled up with Cruise Critic members on our cruise. Looks like it will cover a lot re: VNP. rickystours@yahoo.com.
