Ladies - I need some suggestions/opinions!!

hello brides and brides to be

I have a dilemma...yesterday was an absolute crazy day! I was truly disappointed with David's Bridal. They screwed up my gown and they were just not very helpful. Nobody has the same gown in stock in my size and they can't get it ordered and fitted in time sooooo....I decided to go home and think...I wasn't feeling good either! I'm sick with bronchitis and then had to get myself to the Doctor yesterday afternoon. I don't have health insurance at the moment either. Oh what a day! Anyways, I called my best friend and asked for her help..I was a wreck! We decided to go to a different David's Bridal last night which is near me anyways..the other one was out near my fiance's place. OMG what a huge difference in this store. the associates were wonderful..all of them! We had a blast as they were all making suggestions and bringing me dresses. I had 3 dresses that I just absolutely loved...the first one was so pretty, the second one got better and then the third made it even harder to decide. Oh, yes, this means an entirely different dress now which means MORE EXPENSE! I just couldn't take the third dress off and that one just had me in a daze. Then she brought me these absolutely adoreable red shoes to match the dress! Yep, now I have to buy different shoes..ugh! And of course I bought the other one's at DB and they won't return them or the hairpiece I bought that looks absolutely horrible. The associate pushed into buying this one and she ordered it..it's ugly! So, we spent 2 hours last night at DB..decided on the third dress. The only thing I didn't like about it ...it has a train. It's a chapel length train. Then the associates said they can do a french bustle with it and it will look great. I asked if they could do something with a dress with a train at the other DB store and she told me no and only brought me dresses without a train (which weren't many).

The dress is white with deep red detail (roses with cascading ivy) all in the deep red. We decided that this would go really well with my fiance's dress blues as he has some red in his uniform. I guess now I have a red, white and blue color scheme going...hmmmm. This is where I need your suggestions.

I ordered the boys dark blue vests to go with their tux's and royal blue rose boutonniere's. My friend suggested changing my sons vest to a dark red to match my dress (he will be escorting me in) and leave my fiance's son in the blue vest. I'm just wondering if it will be too many colors going on or will that look good. I'm thinking of pictures. Or should I just leave them both in the dark blue vests.

I also now have to change my flowers. I ordered yellow roses with white lilies to go with my other dress but that won't go with this dress. So now I'm thinking red and white roses. And the boys bout's are going to be royal blue roses and the grooms will be a red rose with blue ribbon. I really love the lilies though ..darn.

Here is the link to what I ordered but with color tweaking. I love this bouquet. Any suggestions??

My other choices now would be:

Also here is the link to the tux colors..I ordered "periwinkle" but I'm also now looking at "Garnet"

I'm sorry this is so long but I'm a frantic mess as I'm running out of time..I only have 3 weeks! I'm leaving 3 weeks from tomorrow! I'm not even sure if I can change the vest color but I need to make a decision today!

Please help with any input you may have. I'm totally new with coordinating for a wedding ceremony. This is a first for me. I have no clue what I'm doing! I haven't had much help either :(

Thank You ladies and I'm looking forward hearing from you :)

Attached are pics of the gown..not the best pics but at least something. We were in a hurry last night lol

P.s ..here are the shoes I got to go with the dress but in apple red

Will you be having any bridesmaids? I personally like the all white bouquet, but I think every bride has their own style. Don't try to stress too much and follow your gut. My initial thought was that it was ok if you were the only one with red in your outfit because you're the bride and should stand out. I would say keep with the blues you already have and and maybe stick with red for bridesmaids and yourself? Who else is going to be involved in your ceremony?

It's truly amazing how different one DB can be from another. I had a similar experience when looking for dresses. We went to two different DBs. The first one was 10 mins from my home and was big, nice looking, and the staff was great. The girl who worked with me wasn't pushy at all. Then I went to a different one about 25 mins away and it was so old looking and the woman was SO pushy, she insisted I needed a veil when I said I didn't want (she said the difference between a prom dress and a wedding dress is the veil, *****?). Then insisted I needed a corset, but I didn't want to be in pain during my wedding! I just eventually walked out and went back to the other DB and got my dress there.

Hope everything works out for you. :)

You sure have a lot going on with only 3 weeks to go.

I say don't over think it and make it even harder by changing so much.

The vest the boys are wearing are already matching, and why not you stand alone in the red..hey you are the bride so why not?!?! I like the 'joy' bouquet no so much for the red & white which is cool, but the combination of flowers themselves.

In the long run most of the small details won't really matter so just go with your gut and go get married!!

I also had different experiences at different DB stores. What can I say, some people have it right and some don't! By the way, the dress looks so good on your shape.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I really appreciate the quick response. I just didn't sleep well last night. I was so frustrated because I just have this kind of luck. I should have known about the first DB store. The associate was trying to force a veil on me and I did NOT want one. The person who does alterations didn't speak english and just quick pinned up the front. She said to leave the back longer..ugh. They were all so rude and pushy and now I'm stuck with a not so good looking dress and out almost $400..then had to buy this other one which was a good buy..$249 and was originally $600.

I love the dress..thought it kinda went well with it also being the week of Valentine's Day. I really didn't think I would go for something with color on it. I always thought the bride should just be in white...but times have changed. Now I'm debating on what to do with the train. Should I have it cut off, permanent bustle or wear with train then bustle. I am not sure I want to take it to DB for alterations. It only needs a small hem..nothing else. It fit perfect. It's the train I'm trying to figure out because I really didn't want a dress with a train but I loved this one.

I will stay with the blue for the boys. The men can all match. I don't have anyone else in the wedding. It's just his son and my son in the wedding. My mom and stepfather will be there. It's just a small intimate wedding.

Thanks again...any suggestions on the train??? I have to think fast..days are going so quick

You know I just realized you were in PA and I wonder if we went to the same DBs... lol I live near Philly. The first one I went to was in Feasterville and the second one was right in Philly off of Roosevelt. My future sister-in-law recommended someone to me for alterations that was half the price of DB so if you think you live near me, let me know and I can find the name for you.

Wow...small world LOL!

I'm not in Philly but I go there quite often for Doctor appointments. I live in Allentown..an hour north but if you know someone...that would be helpful! I need to find someone and fast! I really don't want to use DB for alterations. They are expensive and now i don't trust them.

Thanks

Ok, I use to live in New Tripoli so that was right outside of Allentown. I would say skip DB for alterations and go with a small tailor. I will see if I can dig up the name of the tailor she was telling me about, I think she was in Southhampton.

I'm sorry the first DB was so terrible to you! But hooray for finding a new location that worked for you! Since the second location was so good to you, would you consider doing alterations there for easiness?

the dress, the shoes, the Joy bouquet (my fave) - all so gorgeous!

Let the things that are set just stay as they are, don't stress about them because it will all turn out beautiful in the end. The red and white for you, and blue for all the guys sounds like such a classic military wedding, I love it!! My FBIL and his wife are Marines, and their wedding was just stunning with the guys in dress uniforms. i can't wait to see your pics!
