Bayonne to NYC transportation

We are sailing on the Summit from San Juan to Bayonne, arriving on May 8. It is much cheaper to fly out of JFK to Rochester than from Newark. I'd also like the chance to see my nephew while in NYC. Does anyone know of reasonable means of transportation from Bayonne to NYC or JFK?

The basic choice is to arrange a car service to NYC. The public transit option is to take a cab to the 34th St. Bayonne light rail station, light rail to Hoboken and Path to Herald Square in NY.
