tmp1127 Posted March 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2005 I was just browsing another cruise board and I saw someone mention that Barbados now requires you to have a passport? Is this true ? Anyone know?

Sunniebgi Posted March 2, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2005 A passport is required if you are flying into Barbados and either staying here or continuing on either by ship or plane. It's required if you are Disembarking a ship with the intent of either staying in Barbados or going to the airport to take a flight our of Barbados. A passport is not required if you are on a ship that passes through Barbados for a day and are continuing on aboard that same vessel. BUT... as I always say.. it's better to have than not.. and one of these days, everyone will be required to travel with a passport.
tmp1127 Posted March 2, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted March 2, 2005 I agree we should get passports... We are just waiting till our son is a little older so we dont have to get him a new one quite so often. We read somewhere that untill children are 14 they have to renew their passport very often. ( like every 2 years? ) But thanks for the info :D
Sunniebgi Posted March 2, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2005 A US citizen under the age of 16 yrs old has a passport for 5 years at a stretch.. then they can get one for 10years.. My 3 all have US passports as we live abroad, and have had them since they where each less than 1mth or 3 mths old (depending on the child).. kind of strange taking a 4yrs old traveling with a baby picture. anyway.. when they are 20yrs old they will start with the 10yrs passports.. It's the only thing they will every be able to travel on as they were born outside of the US and only have US Embassy issued Certificates of live birth abroad. (can't travel on that).
