pmama Posted January 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2011 My husband and I are taking a cruise to Cabo. The ship stays in Cabo for two days but you have to return to the ship by 5 the first day so they can go to sea and open the casinos. We'd like to stay at a resort overnight. Before I book it I want to be sure it is okay we do this. Will we need to tell Carnival of our plans? Is it okay?
norcal2 Posted January 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2011 Glad you asked as I wondered the same thing myself. We are on a cruise that has us in Cabo 2 days as well. It would be fun to stay in Cabo and enjoy the night life if there is any.
lovepea Posted January 26, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2011 Technically you could do this but you run the risk of being stranded in Cabo if something happens and they cannot run the tender operations on day 2.

Carolin Posted January 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 26, 2011 Cabo is a tender port. The ship goes out to sea over night. There is no 100% guarantee that the ship will be able to dock the next day. If your ok on taking the chance of not being able to getting back on the ship then have fun. Cabo is a fun city. Just make sure you have cash and passport just in case. :D
Justsyd Posted January 26, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2011 Carnival doesn't allow it because if they can't tender back to get you then you're left behind. If you go ahead and do it anyway, take your passports and enough money to get everyone home with.
Va Tech Rugger Posted January 26, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 26, 2011 I'm on a 5 day cruise to cabo also, and I already booked a hotel to stay on shore the 1st night. My plan is to find a computer and check the weather for the next day to see if there's a possibility of bad weather on the horizon. I can't imagine there being any other reason why they wouldn't tender the next day. FYI the night life in cabo is EPIC!!!

We've had very very choppy water in the middle of summer with no rain or storms in sight. good luck. Just curious...if they cant tender on day 2 what is your plan to get back to the ship/US? That was my thought too. While it would be fun to stay overnight in Cabo, I would NEVER risk it. Hope all goes well. :) Toni
Va Tech Rugger Posted January 26, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 26, 2011 The girlfriend and I are couple of crazies, lol we figure being stranded in cabo for few days doesn't sound all too terrible.... As far as getting back, its the 21st century with Google, nothing is impossible. I should mention I live in San Diego so I don't really have that far to go to get home, so that kinda helps. edit: isnt wind, swell, etc. predictions in the weather forecast? Sounds like quite the adventure! :D I just saw your edit...sometimes maritime weather is included but unless you know the threshholds that would prevent the tenders from running... honestly the decision is up to the captain and the tender company. zirka Posted January 26, 2011 #14 Share Posted January 26, 2011 I would say why not just go stay in Cabo for a few days and skip the cruise. I am sure Cabo has some kind of all-inclusive. Not trying to be a smart a**, just stating a thought.

Va Tech Rugger Posted January 26, 2011 #16 Share Posted January 26, 2011 Neither one of us has ever been a cruise, so the main focus of this whole "adventure" thing is the cruise. We see the night in cabo as being a bonus.
