We will be heading to alaska this summer for our honeymoon and first cruise:DWe will be arriving in anchorage a day early and have been looking at different hotels. The extend your stay option seen to be reasonable compared to other options in anchorage. We are wonder what the advantages/ disadvantages are booking the hotel with princess or on our own. Also do we book this directily with princess or our online travel agent?

Thank you

Reasonable? Unlikely. Remember the prices are per person. But it does include transfers.

I have never seen the words "reasonable" and "Princess hotel" used in the same sentence. You might want to verify the numbers. As mentioned the Princess numbers are per person for a double occupancy room. Nearly all hotel prices are per room.

The advantage of using Princess for this is they pick you up at the airport take you to the hotel. Then they transfer you from th ehotel to the ship when the time comes.

Princess uses the Capt Cook hotel for most, although there are other choices. We did use Princess for the hotel and transfers.

There was someone in the baggage claim that greeted us, took our luggage for us and once we arrived at the hotel gave us our first "Princess Patter". It told us when and where we needed to be, what was available to us, our room key, etc. I loved knowing exactly what to expect. As for our luggage, once it was taken from us in baggage claim, we never saw it again until it showed up in our room. We didn't even need to go to the check in desk unless we wanted to put a credit card on file for the restaurant, room service, etc.

The driver of the motor coach gave us a guided tour from the airport to the hotel, even turned the bus around to allow us a better picture of a HUGE bull moose that was munching on some willows by the side of the road. It was above and beyond the call of duty in my opinion, but much appreciated by the dozen or so passengers.

The hotel is nice and the rooms are fairly large. Anchorage is a very walkable town with touristy shops everywhere. We enjoyed it! Yes, it was more expensive to go through Princess, but we knew that we were going to have a very long day flying from small town east coast all the way to Anchorage in one day (about 18hours) and we just wanted the convenience of this service.

No matter what, you'll love your trip. Be sure you each take your own binoculars! :D
