dakotariley Posted February 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2011 We are avid cruisers and this is the first time we are using cruise critics. We would like to take a River Cruise on Viking starting in Paris - does anyone have any suggestions, likes, dislikes about this company?? The tour starts in Paris and ends up in Chalon-sur-Saone and we planned to stay at the end and visit Marselle, Cannes, Nice and Monaco. This would take place in the Spring, 2011 -- Any feedback would be great - thank you --
sk8teacher Posted February 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2011 You will probably get more responses on the river cruise forum HERE. That said we are going on our second Viking cruise in November, and enjoyed the first one quite well. River cruising is more laid back, and not as formal as ocean cruising, and there isn't a lot to do onboard (no casino, very limited nightly entertainment etc.). But the food is normally quite good, and the crews very personable. Take along a good pair of walking shoes, as the pavement in a lot of towns are not the best, and some are cobblestones which makes for uneven footing. Treven Posted February 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2011 I too am looking into taking one of Viking's river cruises; this one is from Amsterdam to Budapest. Frightfully expensive though. Looks like to will run me about $10k for a 15-day cruise. The good side is that all excursions are included, except for a few "optional" things.
