tirsabel Posted February 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2011 Hi We are on the Crown in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone has been to Smith's Cove recently? If so, how difficult was it to get a cab back to port? I heard about some people walking the distance back to the port, but that it was a long walk - half hour or so? For anyone who did go - was it worth it? How deep is the water and the snorkeling - is it fairly safe? we are all comfortable in the water and I usually bring a snorkel vest just in case anyway. jaga04 Posted February 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2011 On a calm day, Smith Cove, now called Smith Barcadare, is quite nice for snorkeling. Easy entry, not too deep, coral and fish not very far from shore. We were there twice in end December/beginning January. Once was calm and clear, the other time quite murky. It is probably about a 1/2 hour or so walk to town. If you take a taxi there, you can arrange for them to pick you up. You can't count on there being a taxi to take you back otherwise. If you walk, along the way is the Sunset House, which has Cathy Church's underwater photo and camera store---great underwater pix. Also, an art store, whose name I can't recall. curacaoqueen Posted February 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2011 If you do walk, stop by at Sunset House, My Bar, overlooks the cruise ships. The name of the little shop is Pure Art, very nice.
