bluenoser2 Posted February 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Is it any problem to change larger bills of US $ into 1s and 5s for shoretime at the purser's desk? DH just got our US currency from the bank, and couldn't get any small bills, and we're wondering if we should do it while in Florida (hotel?) or if there's any problem/fee for doing such on board. Thanks ever so much!

UpstateCruizer Posted February 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2011 No problem and no fee at the Purser's desk but you may not want to wait in line if there is one. Another place you can get the bills broken down is in the casino. The cashier's will break them for you easily. There's rarely a line and if there is it moves quickly :)

PimpTastic Posted February 11, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2011 you can also get quarters for the launderette at the casino. Yes. We do this too. Just do not go to the video game room and expect quarters to come out of the change machine. I found this out the hard way on my first cruise. (not that I've ever needed quarters on the ship, but now you've got me curious ...)

(not that I've ever needed quarters on the ship, but now you've got me curious ...) Yes, tokens for the game room. There were no change machines in the laundry rooms on the Pride and I have not heard of any in laundry rooms on the other ships. The casinos usually have a change machine right next to that game that flings the quarters. Would be nice to see Carnival use the technology already out there to allow use of the sign and sail card in the laundry rooms. The technology is out there as many laundry rooms in college dorms allow students to swipe their student card right on the washer or dryer.
