Where to stay the night before Galveston cruise

I need a hotel recommendation for the night before we leave for our cruise on March 10th out of galveston for a family of four.

There are lots and lots of suggestions on the Gulf Ports of Call section here. We stayed at the Hotel Valdez and it was delightful. And they allow you to leave your car for the week free. Which was what made up our minds. That and the free shuttle to the ship. But for a wider range of options check out the Ports of Call.

We love the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort....It's right across the street from the beach, they have a restaurant plus I don't know what time of year you guys are sailing but the hotel has a very nice pool also.

We always stay at the La Quita on seawall blvd, the one on the north side of the island where seawall starts running away from the beach. Nice budget hotel accross from the beach. Also, has recently been refurbed due to the hurricane. Highly recommended!! Enjoy your cruise!

I'm in Texas so when we cruise out of Galveston we drive there so we usually stay in Houston near the Gallaria, you can usually priceline a 4 star for about 50-60 there. If you want to stay on the island the Galvez is a beautiful hotel, the Tremont is very close to the port and the hotel at Moody gardens would be great for kids.

We stay at the LaQuinta, too. Breakfast, then take the shuttle to the port. Park for free; shuttle 10 per person, I think?

If you are here when it's cool, the Hampton Inn in Texas City is reasonable and has an indoor pool for the kids. It is 30 minutes North of the terminal. Easy ride on I-45.

We stay at the Best Western on Seawall Blvd. We just love to be able to walk across the road to the beach and water when ever we want to. Reasonable clean and breakfast before boarding.

Great question...I need to book a place for 3 of us the end of April. Something smoker-friendly, if possible.
