RCCL with Kids

Recommended Posts

I posted the message below on the Carnival message board site and got some info, but I wanted to see if a anyone on the RCL board had any comments on the Legend. We prefer RCL, but I am concerned about the age of the ships. THoughts??

We are trying to decide between the Carnival Miracle and the RCL Legend and wanted to get some opinions on which one would be best for our 2 year old son. Normally, RCL would be our choice all things being equal, but they aren’t because the Legend is an older ship which we aren’t thrilled with. We have never been a fan of carnival but have heard the newer ships are nice and I believe the Miracle is a pretty new ship. The reason Disney hasn’t come up is because we are traveling with some couples that don’t have kids and would rather not go Disney because of the no casino thing. Also, the reason it has come down to these 2 ships is because we are going over thanksgiving week and want to go western carrib. which somewhat limits what is available.

T

Thanks

Personally my choice between Carnival and RCCL was the babysitting issue. You may want to consider this if you are traveling with other couples.

That being said we chose the Explorer of the Seas because babysitting is from 8 am to 2 am.

I don't think 2 year olds are allowed in the RCL kids program. I think they are allowed on Carnival. Taking that into account, if I were you, I'd pick Carnival.

We chose Carnival over RCCL simply because some of our family had 2 year olds, and Carnival's program starts at age 2. There newer ships are nice, and family oriented. I prefer RCCL over Carnival, but sometimes a change is nice, and you have to make choices based on other factors. If the point is to have fun and enjoy each other's company, it doesn't matter where it is done. We had a great time.

Thanks CJHouston, that is pretty much what has been going though my head too. We too prefer RCL over carnival, but the pros outweigh the cons in this case so Carnival it is.

We just cruised with my brothers family. Kids are ages 1 and almost 3. We were on the Splendour and they seemed to have a good time. They just had to plan excursions a little different. It also helped that they had family along because we were able to take the kids for one of the days for them to do their own excursion. The only thing - I don't think that the kids programs start until you child is age 3.
