Photos Onboard ?

I am looking at getting my parents some of the photo certificates through Bon Voyage for their anniversary cruise next month (3/7 Elation) - will these be like the drink tickets that they will cover some, but not all of the photo price? I haven't cruised yet, but am taking the same cruise in April. My parents refuse to ask someone to take their photo, and came home from their last cruise with not a single picture of them together - unacceptable! Figure if I buy a few for them, they MUST do it :)

Any/all info about the photos via Bon Voyage would be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer your question as I've never used the coupons but just wanted to make sure that your parents know there's no charge to sit and have the pics taken. you can go to every photo station every single night and take a hundred pics but it only costs $$ if you decide to purchase them.

I realize the majority of people already know this but on a past cruise I was speaking with a fellow pax and she had been refusing to have pics taken because she thought people were paying just to have the pic taken.

ps - I think your idea is a great one!!

On our last Carnival Glory cruise I received Bon voyage photo coupons. They are gifts certificates for $15.00 and will be found in their room upon boarding. They can be used anytime during the cruise as $15.00 coupons off of their photo purchase price. $15.00 does not go a long way on photos (takes atleast 2 to pay for 1 8X10 photo). This is a great idea and a great way to make them bring home pictures.

I would try to talk them into feeling ok about asking people to take their picture. Its a rare person who would feel put out doing this. We do it all the time, and lots of time when we ask a couple, they'll say sure, if you'll take ours too. This gave us one funny memory in cozumel. I asked this Japanese guy if he could take our pic, which he eagerly did, then wanted me to take theirs. Only thing was, he barely spoke english and was definately having trouble understanding this Hillybilly from Missouri. And the camera he handed me was..well, lets just say it probably cost more than my old Ford pickup! I had no idea how to work it, and even less of an idea of how to communicate this to them. But somehow, with a lot of gesturing and pointing, with hillybilly-ese and Japanese thrown in, we got their picture, and all was well. They were a fun couple, wished we'd had been able to spend more time with them!:)

The coupons are for $15.00 off photo. The "formal" photos are 21.99 so with the coupon, you just pay 6.99 on your sign & sail card. We received one as a past Casino guest perk and it was given to us the first night in the dining room.

Our son got us an onboard credit gift at the photo shop for the full amount $50. This was a photo credit so it could only be used in their photo shop- we were able to get several photos and it was easy. If your folks don't want to ask anyone to take their picture they sure won't let the $$$ credit go to waste.
