Future cruise credit

whilst on our cruise last year with Princess we paid our future cruise credit of £75 which gives us on board credit of $100 but now Princess are not honouring this as they say we got a good deal on our booking of the next cruise. is this a con? do you pay extra for your cruise if you have paid the FCC? has anyone else had problems?
