Rum Point Beach and bluffs

arriving in grand cayman in March, tried to book private tours with a jeep tour and a private tour in a van online to no avail.

looking to go to the rum factory (of course) rum point beach and the bluffs........ I know it is across the island (45 mins or so)

BUT

wanted to know if anyone has been to these places?

If it is worth the trip?

How is the restaurant on the beach

how is the beach?

there are 6 of us and now we are figuring on getting a van off the ship, paying 1/2 in the beginning and 1/2 when we get back (we dont want the taxi driver to leave us on the other side of the island)

Any thoughts??

You will find that a better option is renting a car and doing your own tour. You'll have trouble finding a taxi driver that will meet your needs as listed.

Search "rum point" in this forum and you will find dozens and dozens of threads that describe the beach and facilities there.

The rum factory isn't really a rum factory, it's a rum cake bakery...unless you're talking about the Seven Fathoms (?) distillery, which is a rum factory and is very close to the port (could walk there if necessary).

And if you're talking about The Bluffs that are listed in places like TripAdvisor as an attraction, I think that's on another island (Cayman Brac). Or were there some other bluffs you'd heard about? (Drew or TurtleTagger, is there also a bluffs attraction on Grand Cayman?)

yes it is the "rum cake factory" that we are going to (been there b4)

and the bluffs were mentioned on another tour that was at a castle or on the way to a castle... which was on the way to Rum Point Beach.

We will probably just have a driver take us when we get there.

thanks anyways.....
