Dreaming of my next cruise......

Hello CC members! We joined these boards last year while planning our first cruise that we took Oct. 2004. We went on the Golden out of San Juan. DH and I had a wonderful time. We loved the Caribbean. We can wait to go on another cruise.

Looks like it will be summer of 2006 before we book another one. We can't decide which itinerary to take. We dream of taking an Alaskan cruise one day, but we loved the Caribbean. I'm not much on cold weather, but I think the Alaskan views would be awesome.

I was hoping you all could help me compare the two. Right now we are looking at the inside passage to Alaska RT Seattle and the Caribbean Princess Eastern itinerary. Thanks in advance.

good luck, what a problem to have....:D there is no way for me to compare the two cruises you are thinking about, for my 2 cents; if you have the chance to see Alaska, go! There is nothing better about the caribbean except warm weather, if that is what you want. It is not cold in Alaska except when cruising the glaciers and even then......cold is up state N.Y. in Jan/Feb.

Now, in all honesty, I have never cruised the caribbean but I have vacationed there twice....................................a cruise to the caribbean is a vacation, a cruise to Alaska is an experience!

I have done both...and in my opinion although Alaska is beautiful, I will always prefer the Caribbean. I guess the fact that I come from a cooler weather state (Michigan) doesn't help!! I love to escape the cold winters and head for the Caribbean's warm weather.

As a matter of fact I was just researching our cruise for next year...and the Golden out of San Juan looks like our probable choice. Was the food good on the Golden? How did you like the ship overall?

OK back to your question...being your looking to take your cruise in the summer. I think Alaska would be a good choice. I think everyone should cruise there once. I think your choice to go RT out of Seattle is good. This way you don't have to fly in our out of Alaska.

Good luck and Happy Cruising:)

Thanks for your comments. The food on the Golden was great. In fact when I think back on my cruise, the food is one of the first things I think of. The ship had a great layout IMO. You never felt like there were all those other people on board. The layout could get a little confusing at times. I thought the ship was beautiful and the service was an A+.

Another vote for Alaska. I will be taking our third trip there r/t from San Francisco. Fabulous place.

Will this be your first time taking the one RT from San Francisco? We liked this itinerary also. I'm curious to which itinerary is better for Alaska.
