Hondo71 Posted March 4, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2005 Can anyone tell me a good place to buy Cuban cigars near the tender area? How much should I expect to pay?
TheWog Posted March 7, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2005 Churchill's right near the tender area across the street had Cubans. They ranged from about $11 - $30.
jiminparker Posted March 15, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 15, 2005 As a "born in south Florida" transplant, (to Colorado) during the Cuban Invasion, I had a grandpa who smoked the living X!#l out of those things. After the invasion, most Cuba tobacco growers shipped their seeds out of Cuba and into South America.....many to Niguara. It's been a long time now and so many South American cigars are better than Cubans. IF you MUST have a Cuban cigar, then pratically everywhere you travel will have Cuban cigars. Sitting under a plapa on a caribbean beach with a good glass of aged French brandy and a hand rolled stoggy watching the day go by is a small piece of heaven. The next time you land in Tampa, FL, take a side trip to Busch Gardens and stop by the African gift shop and watch a professional roll up a leaf just for you. I have noticed ship guests bringing back Cuban cigars through customs and not declaring them without a hassle. NOT A RECOMMENDATION!, but just an observation. In this day and age most customs folks are looking for bigger fish to fry than a few onesy twosy cigar "smugglers" coming into the US. Have a great sail!
