cruizer2d Posted February 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2011 We're still waiting for our cabin assignment on the Island. We have a BB (balcony) guar. I've noticed that a lot of cabins BB and above are either booked or they are wait-listed. The ones that ARE available are Baja and Caribe 201-204, which are Oceanview Minisuites. I'm afraid Princess will put us in one of these cabins, because it's an "upgrade", even though they are OV. Sounds dumb, but I'll freak if we don't get a balcony for a 15 day cruise. Is this possible? CcCcCcCindy Posted February 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Balcony guarantee means a balcony. Princess will not assign you a non-balcony suite just because it is an upgrade. They might "offer" upgrades to passengers, but they are never obliged to take them. More than likely, they will offer their repeat passengers suite upgrades, and then give you a balcony. Whenever you have concerns like this, be sure to ask your travel agent, and they will put your mind at ease. :)
Pam in CA Posted February 19, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Balcony guarantee means a balcony.Actually, a GTY means you are guaranteed the category you've booked, or better, whether or not it has a balcony. Whether it has a balcony has nothing to do with it; it's based on the number of people booked in a category, the number of people wanting to book a category, and the number of cabins available in any category above the one you booked. Supply and demand. If an OV mini-suite has a higher category, you could be "upgraded" to it. That's why the advice here is to never book a GTY unless you'd be happy with any cabin or location on the ship you could be assigned.
