Beginner-buying snorkeling equip in San Juan

Hi Everyone

We're cruising out of San Juan next month, and I was hoping to purchase a snorkeling set in San Juan rather than renting it at each island (or trying to jam it into our luggage). Does Walmart have snorkeling equipment 'good enough' for a beginner who may never snorkel again. Any other options in San Juan to get a snorkeling set?

 

Also- any tips on how to choose snorkeling equipment?

I do not know if walmart would have anything but a local dive shop may have a package that includes a mask and snorkle.
